Patna Traffic E-Challan List 2026 New Camera Locations & Fine Rates

Received a Patna Traffic E-Challan fine message in Patna? Check the updated 2026 Patna E-Challan rates, hidden camera locations (Dak Bungalow, Atal Path), and a step-by-step guide to pay or dispute fines online.

Introduction

You are riding your bike near Dak Bungalow Chauraha. The signal is green, you are wearing a helmet, and you think you are safe.

Two hours later, your phone buzzes.

“Challan No. BR-PT-2026… issued for ₹1,000.”

Why? Because your pillion rider wasn’t wearing a helmet. Or maybe your tyre touched the Zebra Crossing line.

Welcome to Patna Smart City 2026. The days of arguing with the hawaldar are over. The Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) now uses high-resolution ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) cameras to send fines directly to your mobile.

In this guide, I’m sharing the updated 2026 Traffic Fine List, the hidden camera locations you need to know, and exactly how to check and pay your fines before your bike gets blacklisted.

“Hidden” Camera Locations in Patna (The Insider List)

Patna Smart City Limited (PSCL) has installed over 3,000 cameras. While they are everywhere, these are the “Hotspots” where 90% of challans are generated:

  1. Dak Bungalow Chauraha: The “Eye of Sauron.” It has 360-degree cameras that catch everything from seatbelts to stop-line violations.
  2. Saguna More (Danapur): Very active cameras targeting bikers coming from Ara/Bihta.
  3. Atal Path:
    • Trap: The speed limit is 60 kmph for bikes and 80 kmph for cars. Speed guns are often hidden near the curves or mounted on poles.
  4. JP Ganga Path (Marine Drive):
    • New cameras have been installed from Sabhyata Dwar to Didarganj.
    • Watch out: Wrong-side driving here will get you an instant fine.
  5. Ashok Rajpath (Double Decker Bridge):
    • Newly installed cameras in 2026 are monitoring the construction zones and traffic flow.
  6. Gandhi Maidan Circle:
    • Strictly monitors Zebra Crossing violations. If your front wheel is on the white stripes when the light is red, you get fined.

How to Check Your Patna Traffic E-Challan Status (Step-by-Step)

Don’t wait for the SMS (sometimes it doesn’t come). Check manually once a month.

Method 1: The mParivahan App (Easiest)

  1. Download the mParivahan app from Play Store/App Store.
  2. Click on “Search Challan”.
  3. Enter your RC Number (e.g., BR01XX1234) or DL Number.
  4. It will show you the list of “Pending” and “Disposed” challans.

Method 2: Official Parivahan Website

  1. Go to [suspicious link removed].
  2. Click on “Check Online Services” > “Check Challan Status”.
  3. Enter your Vehicle Number and the last 5 digits of your Chassis Number or Engine Number (Available in your RC or DigiLocker).
  4. The Proof: If you have a fine, you can click on the “Camera Icon” to see the actual photo of your bike violating the rule.

How to Pay the Fine Online Patna Traffic E-Challan

You do NOT need to go to the traffic police station or find a broker.

  1. On the same Parivahan website (where you checked the status), click “Pay Now”.
  2. Select “Bihar Police” as the payment gateway.
  3. Pay using UPI (PhonePe/GPay), Net Banking, or Debit Card.
  4. Save the Receipt: Take a screenshot of the “Payment Successful” page. It takes 24 hours to update on the portal.

Nakli Life Pro-Tips (Avoid Scams & Errors)

  • The “Phishing” SMS Scam:
    • You might get an SMS saying: “You have a challan of ₹500. Click http://bit.ly/pay… to settle within 24 hours.”
    • DO NOT CLICK. Official Government links always end in .gov.in. Scammers use these links to hack your bank account. Always check on the official app first.
  • The “Wrong Challan” Hack:
    • Did the camera read your number plate wrong? (e.g., read ‘I’ as ‘1’).
    • Don’t pay it! Go to the “Grievance” section on the Parivahan portal and upload proof of your bike’s number plate. They usually cancel these erroneous fines within 7 days.
  • The “90 Days” Rule:
    • If you don’t pay a challan within 90 days, it is sent to the Virtual Court. After that, you cannot pay online easily; you might have to visit the court physically or pay a higher amount.

1. Safety Gear

  • DOT/ECE Certified Full Face Helmet: Don’t compromise here. The highways are fast, and the hills are unpredictable.
  • All-Season Riding Jacket with Armor: You need mesh for the Bihar heat, but a liner for when the altitude drops in Nepal.
  • Riding Gloves (Touchscreen Compatible): Essential for navigation without taking gloves off.

2. Bike Accessories & Tech

  • Robust Mobile Holder with Charger: Navigation is crucial, and your battery will drain fast.
  • Portable Tyre Inflator & Puncture Kit: You will find puncture shops, but being self-reliant on highway stretches is better.
  • Bungee Cords/Rok Straps: To securely fasten your luggage to the tail seat.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q1: Is DigiLocker valid in Patna?

A: Yes! According to the IT Act, showing your RC and License on the DigiLocker or mParivahan app is 100% legal. If a policeman refuses to accept it, you can tweet to Patna Traffic Police.

Q2: My pollution (PUC) expired yesterday. Will I get fined?

A: Yes. The cameras are linked to the central VAHAN database. They know your insurance and PUC status automatically. Renew it immediately!

Q3: Can I ride with flip-flops (chappals)?

A: Legally, riding with slippers is an offense (₹1,000 fine), but cameras usually don’t catch this. However, for safety (and to avoid arguments with cops at checkpoints), wear shoes.

Have you been fined in Patna recently?

I once got fined for “Overspeeding” on Atal Path while doing 62 kmph! 😅
